Happy Mountain Slow: (yin)
Stillness
A completely meditative, slow and still practice (incorporating principles of Traditional
Chinese Medicine) to nurture body, mind, and soul through passive poses held for up to
5mins to target the deep connective tissues of the body (vs. the superficial tissues).
An intimate practice requiring students to be intimate with the self, with feelings,
sensations and emotions. We use props to stay supported and can improvise with pillows,
books, blankets, or you may have your own blocks and bolsters.

Classes are suitable for all levels of fitness including beginners.

Come in 15 mins early if you like and lie down 🙂

Charlotte Brown: Started her yoga journey almost two decades ago. In that time she has practiced a variety of yoga styles and attended numerous retreats to immerse herself in the practice of yoga. In her mid thirties her eyes were opened to the 8 limbs of yoga and how the asana (physical poses) practice is only one small part of a much larger ancient yogic practice. This practice includes dharana (concentration), Dhyana (meditation) pranayama (breath control), yamas (how we behave in the world), Niyamas (how we treat ourselves), pratyahara (withdrawl of senses) and Samadhi (integration). She also has a strong meditation practice guided by the teachings learnt through Vipasana and insight retreats. Three years ago she decided that she was ready to train as a yoga teacher, she attended a teacher training in Indonesia run by her teachers gurus. This practice enhanced her understanding of the 8 limbs of yoga and how to use them in her daily life. She decided to share her knowledge and worked as a yoga teacher in rehabilitation centre in Thailand. She worked with groups teaching flow and yin and individually with those seeking deeper support with yoga therapy. Supporting people to reconnect to their bodies, release emotion and quiet the mind. She wanted to enhance her ability to support people through difficult times in their life so moved to the Northern Rivers to study for a degree in Psychotherapy and counselling. She is currently in her third year of study and will be qualified by November 2020. She is particularly interested in how the body stores trauma and how being in nature supports our wellbeing. She is passionate about the benefits of Yin, Flow and breathing. Geraldine has been managing and conducting classes at the Happy Mountain Yoga Studio for 20 years. She holds an Associate Diploma in Health Science (Sport & Exercise) and an Advanced Diploma in Arts (Mandarin). She first trained in Les Mills Bodybalance and over the years has developed her own style and had further training in various yoga modalities. She is currently doing 200hr Yoga Teacher Training to be completed by Nov 2020. Geraldine loves creating a safe and comfortable atmosphere where the community can come together to just be themselves, to connect with self and others, and to find wellness of body, mind and soul through movement to music, breathing, meditation and relaxation.
